Description

St Helens Council serves two proud towns in the heart of the North West – St Helens and Newton-le-Willows – and historic communities within our borough including Haydock, Rainford, Sutton and Rainhill. As a council we are privileged to serve our residents, and we are currently seeking to recruit a senior member of the team to help drive our future transformation, deliver growth and improve services.

Our new Strategic Director of Place Services will lead our vital regeneration and economic growth agenda, as well as lead a wide variety of community-facing services which need to provide good value for money as well as high customer satisfaction. 

St Helens has a lot to offer.  We have energetic and fresh political leadership which is determined to get things done; as a place, we are well positioned geographically between Liverpool and Manchester; we have exciting opportunities for regeneration and growth in the borough; and we have an innovative and unique health and social care partnership – St Helens Cares. We are also an important part of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, and we have a huge opportunity to influence public policy and budgets through the LCR devolution agreement and our elected LCR Mayor.

We are therefore seeking candidates with significant senior local government experience within a relevant discipline, excellent partnership skills, strong political understanding, and the ability to deliver results and find solutions.
